Which Ranger model should you consider?

R425 — compact field of view

The 25 mm lens and 384 × 288 sensor offer a practical option for general observation, with a close-focus distance listed at 0.5 m.

R435 — more reach

The 35 mm lens provides higher optical magnification and a narrower view than the R425, with a longer stated detection distance.

R625 — high-resolution scanning

The 640 × 512 sensor with a 25 mm lens provides the widest field of view in the Ranger lineup, useful for scanning larger areas.

R635 — balance of detail and view

The 640 × 512 sensor and 35 mm lens balance higher resolution with increased magnification for more distant observation.

R650 — longest stated detection

The 50 mm lens offers the longest manufacturer-stated detection distance in the series, with a narrower field of view than the 25 mm models.

Shared Ranger features

All five models use 12 μm pixels, a 50 Hz thermal detector and stated NETD sensitivity of ≤30 mK at F1.0. Common features include a 0.41-inch 1440 × 1080 OLED display, 1×/2×/4×/8× digital zoom, six colour palettes, hot/cold-spot tracking, Wi-Fi, built-in 32 GB storage, USB Type-C connectivity and IP67 protection. Battery life is listed at ≥7.5 hours for the R425/R435 and ≥6.5 hours for the R625/R635/R650 under manufacturer test conditions.
